Since its launch earlier this year, our Digital Discharge Service (DDS) has been enthusiastically received by solicitors and lenders alike. DDS increases efficiency and security in the mortgage security discharge process by replacing the existing paper-based system with one that is entirely digital.
On the 30th of October, we will welcome another important firm to DDS as Nationwide Building Society as they go live with the service. After a four week trial in which they tested the service alongside the DDS team from Registers of Scotland (RoS), Nationwide are now fully processing discharge applications.
Five conveyancers were involved in bringing Nationwide on board, and each welcomed the addition of another major lender to the service. Shona Black, Operations Director at Russel + Aitken, commented “DDS is a fantastic step in the right direction for the conveyancing industry, and working with another important firm like Nationwide will only increase the positives that DDS has brought to our organisation.”
The mortgage experts at Nationwide have been equally positive about DDS. Imogen Nicholson, one of Nationwide’s Business Support Analysts, particularly liked the ability to use electronic signatures with DDS, as it “integrates with our existing technology, but adds another layer of security that helps lessen the potential for mortgage fraud”.
DDS is an important part of our digital transformation, and we’re delighted to welcome Nationwide. They’re our third biggest lender in terms of discharges, so by using DDS, we’re delivering a more efficient service to thousands of property owners in Scotland. Kevin Stewart, DDS Uptake Manager at RoS, added that “working alongside major lenders like Nationwide is an important step in the further development of DDS. The service has been met with fantastic feedback since the initial consultation stage, and it’s great to see that the response of Nationwide has been equally positive”.
Please note that ‘The Mortgage Works’ are not in scope for DDS at present but Nationwide are currently looking to embed this service in the near future.
